The roots of the present–day company stretch back to the beginning of the 19th century, when the largest mechanical cotton spinning mill in Central Europe was set up in the Tanvald area. The business plan and success of the Tanvald Cotton Spinning Mill Company gave rise to other cotton companies and development continued post–1845 with the foundation of mechanical weaving mills. The development of the cotton industry in the Tanvald area reached its peak at the beginning of the 20th century, when there were 20 cotton companies active here. There was no similar concentration of textile production in such a small area under the monarchy at that time. In 1948, the textile companies that survived the period marked by two World Wars became the foundation on which the Seba Tanvald National Enterprise was built. As a result of the political changes of November 1989, the privatisation of small and later major state enterprises got underway. The Seba T Joint Stock Company was founded in June 1996 with the acquisition of a majority stake in the company from the National Property Fund and the application of a business plan. Seba T is currently one of the most prominent manufacturers of textile fabrics in the Czech Republic, a company with a production tradition that stretches far back into the 19th century.
